When you have time....

to go jalan-jalan...i would suggest you to go to Little India.
Dont forget to bring your camera...or cameraphone, like me :-)
"Bla..bla...bla...ring...ring..." Multitasking

My favourite place to shoot street photography...is Little India. There is always so much things to explore and find and capture!

I've been going to Little India for as long as I can remember, for the food, for the fresh produce, for the cultural happenings (I joined the Thaipusam procession couple of years ago) and...for the abundance subjects to shoot with my camera errr...phone.

Klick the word Little India above, it will bring you to the map of the area. From Little India MRT, just go along Serangoon Road, go into Norris Rd, Upper Dickson Rd, Dunlop Rd, Veerasamy Rd, Chitty Rd, Kampong Kapor Rd...well, basically every lanes and road in this area.

You will find this beautiful church Kampong Kapoor Church around Kampong Kapoor and Chitty Road. The parish Rev. Wong invited me to see the inside of the church, including their piped organ. It is beautiful! Will upload the pictures on separate post :-)

You will also find this beautiful Abdul Gaffoor mosque in Dunlop Street. It is hidden among rows of shophouses, so you will only see it when you are already very near to the mosque. Do visit this gem...it is beautifully preserved!

My sister, aunt, mom and I finally found this gem!

Back Alley. Do you notice the designated parking lot for motorcycle here? :-)

Selamat Hari Raya Haji

We were here this morning. Its a long weekend in Singapore.

The Gardens in the City

Untitled
Don't get dizzy seeing this! :-D

Tree Top Walk

Cloud Forest

Singapore's latest and the most amazing attraction to date is The Gardens by The Bay. It is a huge complex (101 hectares) consisting of two temperature-controlled domes, giant trees, a lake and several themed gardens. Click this to check the map.

The garden was officially opened on 29 June 2012, and has been attracting many many many people, both tourists and locals to check out the place.

I spent an afternoon at this magnificent garden with family, and it was not enough. I think i have to go there again...to explore the place in details but in the meantime, here are moments that i could immortalize from the trip :-) I only managed to go inside the two domes, flower dome and cloud forest.

The flower dome replicate cool-dry climate of the Mediterranean regions such as South Africa, California, Spain and Italy. Cacti and beautiful flowers fill this dome. Flower lovers...you will be in awe!!!

The cloud forest showcases plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000-metres sea level.
The moment you enter the dome, you will be welcomed by a tall indoor waterfall!!! Slightly wet attire during the tour was no problem at all for me hehe.

Futuristic green

They all look tiny!!!

Oh gee...(slightly) off the grid

Another photo from recent hang out around the Esplanade to Fullerton.

This photo was taken at the Anderson Bridge. Did not realise that this bridge is quite a popular destination among tourists.

More stories about the bridge coming up after this post.

(taken at The Fullerton Waterboat House)

I was forced to stay in downtown area (Raffles Place / Esplanade area) for hours a couple of days ago,  for some reasons that i am sure you are not interested of :-) What should i  do to kill time? Of course, as other iphoneographers would do, i took the opportunity to take a stroll along Singapore River. And this is what i found.

Came across to the Waterboat House and managed to shoot some quick snaps.

This building was built in 1919 as a Water Office owned by Hammer and Company. It supplied fresh water to incoming ships.

The site itself is believed to be where the Master Attendant's Office in the late 19th century was. The Master Attendant supervised all harbour activities. The Office also served as a post office.

Port of Singapore Authority took over the management of the building in 1960 but maintained its function till 1990.

The building is now under the care of the Fullerton Management.

If you are interested to know more about stories of old Singapore (buildings and all) do visit the Heritage Trail  website, created by The National Heritage Board of Singapore. .

Playing with perspective :-)
This is a picture of Pan Pacific Hotel in Marina Square.

It is interesting to understand the limitation of a cameraphone (mine is an iPhone4) and get something creative out of it :-)

Cycling around neighbourhood

Woke up early to catch the morning fresh air. As i cycled around the neighbourhood, i snapped some shots.

Here they are...snapshots of Punggol Neighbourhood.

A bridge at Punggol Waterway...

As the youngest district development in Singapore, Punggol is developing furiously. I counted the other day that there are at least 5 new housing projects currently is underway. If one project could create around 1000 housing units, that means in two to three year to come, there will be 5000+ more housing units available in Punggol! THAT is a lot!

I just hope Punggol will not be as crowded and noisy as Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio!

Some government housings...

Kheng Chiu Building - Door latice

Hi there,
Dyah Sari just shared an Instagram photo with you:

Thanks,
The Instagram Team

I just love old buildings. This picture was a door detail of Kheng Chiu Hwee Building along Beach Road. It is one of many association / clan buildings across Singapore. But this one is a building of its own, three or five storey high, big and is still in a very good condition.

Look at the detail, it is pretty isnt it?
