Sarang Burung - Bird's Nest update 2

The mama bird remained calm and quiet the entire photo session. My husband is a good photographer, so he takes it as his job to record what is going on with our bird's nest. This is taken in the afternoon. A quiet and lazy Sunday. The mama bird seems to be enjoying her me-time here.

After doing a little research, I found out that the bird is a Yellow-Vented Bulbul, one of popular species of birds in Singapore. It is quite friendly to humans that is why I think they chose to build the nest in our garden.They are often spotted making their nest on potted plants, like ours. 

If you dont live in Singapore, then you might not know that most people in Singapore live in apartments, us included. There are not many residents willing to create green wall along their corridors. Can not blame them as it takes time to take care of the green. We did it to bring freshness and oxygen to our home. We did it so that my mum has an activity that she enjoys doing. To have birds building their nest in our garden is a plus.

This is why the bird was so quiet when my husband took these pictures! She was laying an egg. Such small and beautifully oval shaped egg! Let us count how many days it stays this way till it hatches. According to information on the internet,

Should we set up a camera/ video camera near the nest to record the development? Nah...we ditch the idea. We do not wish to be too intrusive but we will take picture regularly, and pen down the progress here.

Punggol Promenade

Punggol memang di ulu, tapi seru. 
Estate terbaru di Singapura ini masih memiliki banyak tanah kosong (walau mungkin sebentar lagi akan jadi pemandangan langka), masih banyak proyek sedang dibangun.




Park Connector Network-nya adalah surga bagi para peminat olahraga lari dan bersepeda. Park Connector ini menghubungkan Estate Hougang, Sengkang dan Punggol. Sepanjang Park Connector tentu ada tempat beristirahat, tempat berolahraga (fitness corner), tempat berpiknik atau berteduh jika matahari sedang terik. Yang tidak banyak adalah tukang jualan makanan asongan hehehe!



Di Park Connector ini ada tiga taman pengikat, yaitu Punggol Promenade, Punggol Waterway dan Punggol Point. Dari Punggol Promenade kita bisa menyeberang jembatan (jalan kaki) ke Lorong Halus Wetland (lihat gambar di bawah). Dari Punggol Point kita bisa melihat kapal laut yang lalu lalang di pantai timur laut Singapura.

Yang mau sekadar jalan-jalan sore menanti matahari tenggelam pun...bisa turut menikmati taman ini.






Park Connector ini panjang ya, kurang lebih 5 kilometer. Jika anda mau mencoba track ini, jangan lupa membawa bekal minum, dan makanan kecil mungkin? Terutama jika ada anak kecil. :-) Di Punggol Promenade ada beberapa restoran tapi restoran-restoran ini baru buka mulai sore hari. 

Ohya hampir lupa, di sini ada tempat penyewaan sepeda juga, per jam 10 dolar (minimum 2 jam). Info selebihnya bisa cek ini. 



Penggemar fotografi senang jalan-jalan ke sini. Masih banyak burung dan hijau-hijau yang bisa dijadikan obyek foto menarik.

My neighbourhood

I was on my way to my lesson when i caught a glimpse of the sky and realised how pretty it was. I was pleasantly surprise to see the results...so i share them here with you :-)

It seems just recently we moved in to this area. Hey....it seems just recently we heard about Punggol estate. ;-) Well, Punggol is the newest estate in Singapore. Punggol now is still an ulu place. But come 5 years from now, it will be a very vibrant estate with various amenities for everyone, or so it was said by the government :-)
